BASIS OF FAITH
 

 

1.

The divine inspiration, authority and sufficiency of the Word of God.

2.

The uniqueness of the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3.

a)

That the Son of God is truly man.

 

b)

That He was born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

c)

That He died as an eternal sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.

 

d)

That He rose from the dead.

 

e)

That He ascended to the right hand of God where He intercedes for all believers.

 

f)

That He will return with His own to found His eternal Kingdom.

4.

That the fall of Adam is the cause of man’s separation from God, known as sin.

5.

The Holy Spirit’s power to guide and sanctify the sinner.

6.

a)

That justification of the sinner is by faith alone.

 

b)

That the New Birth in Jesus results from this faith.

 

c)

That the New Birth is evidenced in a holy and God honouring life style.

7.

a)

That at the death of the body the spirit of man does not cease to exist.

 

b)

That at the appointed day the dead will be raised to life for judgement, and only those whose names are found in the Lamb’s Book of Life will have entry into the Kingdom of God.

 

The practices of the church

 

a)                  .

The observance of the sacrament of Believer’s Baptism by immersion on personal confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

b)                   

The regular gathering to “break bread” together on the Lord’s day.

c)                   

The reception at the Lord’s table of all believers.

d)                   

The conduct of meetings for worship under the guidance of the Holy Spirit with the exercising of the gifts of the Spirit subject to the Lordship of Christ.

 
When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”
