Notes of meeting Sunday 30 April 2023

Notes of Meeting 30th April 2023

The notes this week are very brief, concentrating on the Prayer needs.

Our worship time began with Psalm 138: 1 – 5.

After a prayer, the following songs were chosen by the congregation:

  1. O Lord my God, …. How great thou art!
  2. Lord, the light of your love is shining………  Shine, Jesus, shine
  3. Bless the Lord O my soul
  4. Make me a channel of your peace.
  5. There’s a work for Jesus …………….  none but you can do.  (Read 2 Timothy 2: 1 – 2).

Before the Breaking of Bread, we sung Meekness and Majesty, thinking particularly of the deity of Christ, and what He gave up to go to the cross in our place.

Prayer Time

Please continue to remember the following for prayer and praise this week:

  • Gemma needs our continued prayers for her period of recovery, now she is home from hospital
  • Celine – she is now booked into St Georges for investigations on 5th and 11th May, at Roehampton on 23rd May, and for a pre-op on 31st May.
  • Peter – now under treatment and further tests at ESH. Jan thanks folk for their prayers, as Peter seems to be responding to treatment. Pray too for Jan as she visits him each day.
  • Dawn’s friend Trea – thanks for good progress, but further follow-up tests now required
  • Sally – as she is still in the grieving process.
  • Ken and Chris, as they travel in Japan
  • Jonathan – now out of hospital, but still to undergo further chemo and other treatments
  • Linda – now confirmed her shoulder operation is planned for Thursday 11th May.

We concluded the service by thinking a little more about King Jesus, how He was totally different to any other king in history. He came as the Servant King – not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Closing Song: From heaven you came – the Servant King

Notices

Next Sunday 7th May – Coronation weekend – there will NOT be a service at Lee Street.

Sunday 14th May – service led by Sue Clarke and the Worship Team.

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”
Luke 2:28-32
